Hello Family,

I found myself thinking about a familiar passage of scripture this week that I think might be something for us to consider. We will be “changing” our Sunday morning schedule this month and I understand that some of you may be feeling a little anxious about that change. And maybe some of you have already determined in your mind that you will not like the change. May I share with you a scripture, a thought and a challenge? The scripture is II Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.” This promise was the response that God gave to Solomon after he had prayed and committed the“New” temple to the Lord. God said He would move in the lives of the people if they would,(1) humble themselves if they would(2) pray, if they would(3) seek His face and if they would (4)turn from their sin.

Can I ask you honestly today, are you doing those four things as you think about the change? Are you honestly humbling yourself before God asking what is His will not yours? Are you honestly praying for the church and the leaders as we try to follow the Lord? Are you honestly seeking His face and desiring His will to be done in all things? Are you honestly confessing your own sins before God and asking for forgiveness? Here is my challenge for us as a church. Starting on February 1, 2018, and continuing for the next eighteen days, will you join with me and pray every day for the transition we are going through as a church? Will you pray for God’s will to be done and for the wisdom for all of us to recognize His will and for the humility to accept His will whatever that may be?More than anything else, I want us to please God. That sometimes comes into conflict with pleasing people. Pray that we will please God as a church.
